“In the metaphysics of identity, the ship of Theseus — or Theseus’s paradox — is a thought experiment that raises the question of whether a ship—standing for an object in general—that has had all of its components replaced remains fundamentally the same object. First, suppose that the famous ship sailed by the hero Theseus in a great battle has been kept in a harbor as a museum piece. As the years go by some of the wooden parts begin to rot and are replaced by new ones. After a century or so, all of the parts have been replaced. Is the “restored” ship still the same object as the original? Second, suppose that each of the removed pieces were stored in a warehouse, and after the century, technology develops to cure their rotting and enable them to be put back together to make a ship. Is this “reconstructed” ship the original ship? And if so, is the restored ship in the harbor still the original ship too?”

In music, Ship Of Theseus is a project band born from the inspiration of Marco Cardona (guitarist from the band Krampus, former member of Tystnaden and solo artist) and Michele Guaitoli (singer from the bands Vison Of Atlantis, Temperance, Era and Kaledon): they wanted to try to fuse some different influences in something new and fresh, so they recruited Paolo Crimi (drummer from, Beerbong, former drummer of Extrema and session man), Giorgio Terenziani (bassist from Arthemis, Living Theory, former Absynth Aura, Killing Touch) and Alessando Galliera (guitarist in Krampus with Marco) for recording this album, called “The Paradox”, in which every influence of the musicians involved has been free to flow through their instruments and for coming to a new form. Lyrics are telling the story of some of the paradox that every human being faces, sooner or later, in life, in human relationships, and so on and on… The music is defined by a modern sound, in which the listener can easily taste the flavor of influences that goes from Nevermore to Devin Townsend, from Bring Me The Horizon to Dream Theatre melting in a powerful modern metal.
