Broken Glazz
Broken Glazz
Biography

Broken Glazz was formed in the first half of 1989 by James Wynne and Ivan Appino, returning from various musical experiences in the Piedmontese music scene. With the recruitment of Andry Verga (Steel Angel) on drums and Pier Querio (Wired) on bass, the band can be said to be complete and begins to successfully engage in some live performances, up to the participation of the Ariccia Festival, thanks to which he comes into contact with the patron of the event, the famous singer and talent-scout Teddy Reno, who sponsors his interests until the autumn of 1990.

The real turning point in the group’s career comes with the recording, carried out at the Dracma Studios in Turin, under the guidance of Tino Paratore, of the 6-tks demo-tape “Broken Glass” (which is also the initial name of the band …), the which soon sells a thousand copies and guarantees various critical and public acclaim. The concert activity continues throughout the Piedmont area, allowing Broken Glazz to build a solid reputation as a “live band” (in particular we remember the fiery performance at the Hypnos discotheque in Turin, together with Extrema and Braindamage). In 1991 the moment of the first album finally arrives, entitled “Divine”, released on Dracma Metalrecords label (anticipated by the presence of the song “Mindless Transparency” in the first volume of “Nightpieces”, compilation of “emerging” of the same label). Wide appreciation led to the creation, in 1992, of the second work “Withdraw from reality”, which sees the entry of guitarist Luca Balducci to replace James Wynne. The disc (containing a singular version of Kiss’s “I love it loud”) achieves unanimous acclaim, thanks to a dynamic and mature sound. The release of the album is accompanied by participation in the traveling festival “Italian Assault”, in the company of Braindamage and Headcrasher. The mini “Solitude”, licensed in 1993, is today the last original record of Broken Glazz, which, however, since 2008, following the festival organized to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of Dracma Records, gather on special occasions for performances live.
